Gordon & MacPhail Unveils Final “Mr George” Legacy Release: A 70-Year-Old Glen Grant Masterpiece

Glen Grant 70 Years Old 1954 Mr. George Legacy Gordon & MacPhail
Honouring a Legend with a Rare, Multi-Layered Single Malt
Gordon & MacPhail presents the fifth and final edition of its “Mr George” Legacy Series with an extraordinary 70-Year-Old single malt whisky from the renowned Glen Grant Distillery in Speyside. Distilled on 24th April 1954 and bottled in January 2025, this rare release commemorates the company’s 130th anniversary and pays tribute to George Urquhart, a key figure in single malt history. Matured in first-fill Sherry Puncheon #1823 for seven decades, only 130 bottles are available worldwide at a natural cask strength of 50.5% ABV.
A Design That Reflects Dedication
The bottle is presented in packaging that reflects Mr George’s lifelong dedication to whisky perfection. A symbol of refined heritage, the design honours his relentless pursuit of balance between spirit, oak, and time, while reinforcing the legacy of a man who helped shape the world of single malt Scotch.
Cask Maturation & Aromatic Depth
Having rested for 70 years in a sherry puncheon selected by Mr George himself, this whisky showcases the incredible potential of long maturation. Its mahogany colour and complex aroma tell a story of patience and expertise. As whisky expert Charlie MacLean states, this release is “surprisingly vibrant for such an old whisky, but with the multi-layered complexity that can only be developed by long maturation in the right cask.”
“The fifth and final release from the Mr George Legacy Series is the perfect tribute to my grandfather’s lifetime of work,” says Stuart Urquhart, Operations Director at Gordon & MacPhail. “While the series concludes, my grandfather’s quest for perfection lives on within our company.”
