Suntory presents the exclusive Hibiki 40 Years – A limited edition masterpiece
Suntory is setting a new standard in the world of whiskey with the release of Hibiki 40 Year Old.
This rare blend is the oldest Hibiki ever released and was created by Suntory's master blender, Shinji Fukuyo. For this exceptional whisky, Fukuyo used barrels from the Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries that had been matured in Mizunara, Spanish and American oak barrels.
The Hibiki 40 Years Old is described as a harmonious and delicate blend, with aromas of Japanese medlar, dried lemon peel and cloves. On the palate, acacia honey and dried figs unfold, ending in an aromatic aftertaste.
Fukuyo himself said of his creation: “I want people to enjoy the pure aroma that has been refined over the years and feel the serenity of old temples and warehouses.”
The Hibiki 40 years is presented in an artfully designed 12-sided wooden box made of twelve different types of wood. The elegant 30-sided crystal decanter is decorated with Japanese mother-of-pearl and gold lacquer. Those who want to purchase one of the 400 limited edition bottles will have to dig deep into their pockets – the price is estimated at around 32,000 euros.
A masterpiece of Japanese whisky art and a rare opportunity for collectors.
