THE CASKHOUND reveals a 47-year-old Invergordon single grain whisky

To kick off the 2025 whisky year, Tilo Schnabel, founder of THE CASKHOUND, presented a special treasure from the Highland distillery Invergordon.

The 47-year-old single grain whisky, distilled in 1977, is a rarity that impressively demonstrates the diversity and maturity of grain whiskies. With only 204 bottles in natural cask strength of 43.6%, this bottling is an exclusive moment of pleasure for whisky fans.

Unique due to its almost five decades of maturation in a refill ex-bourbon cask, the whisky shows a fascinating interplay of age, complexity and aromatic richness.

It is not only a delight for experienced whisky connoisseurs, but also an exciting adventure for those who want to discover the world of matured grain whiskies.

Taste profile:

Nose: The scent opens with honey, polished wood and ripe tropical fruits. Creamy fudge, shortbread and delicate coconut flakes underline the sweetness, while subtle notes of banana and vanilla round off the aromas.

Palate: Sweet and full-bodied, the whisky starts with toffee and candied apples. Fruity apricots and spicy ginger provide a lively balance, complemented by nuances of banana chips, rum raisins and chocolate.

Finish: medium length and elegant, with citrus freshness, cinnamon and a hint of rum. The dry oak notes add depth and a harmonious aftertaste.

As is usual with THE CASKHOUND, the whisky is presented in its natural color, without chill filtration and in an elegant black wooden box. A must-have for collectors and lovers of exceptional whiskies.
