The North English White Peak Distillery adds a new expression to its Core Range with the release of the White Peak Wire Works Port Cask . Bottled at 50.2% ABV, this whisky distinguishes itself by maturing in Tawny Port barrels from Dias Cooperage, complemented by ex-bourbon barrels. It features locally sourced publican barley and incorporates a unique yeast blend, including reused yeast from Thornbridge Brewery, highlighting the distillery's innovative approach.

Design & Presentation

While detailed packaging specifics are not disclosed, the addition of the Wire Works Port Cask completes the Core Range alongside the Wire Works Caduro and the Wire Works Bourbon Barrel. This third release marks a notable step in the visual and thematic coherence of the range, celebrating White Peak’s ongoing evolution and dedication to quality.

Maturation & Flavor Profile

The maturation in Tawny Port casks imparts rich, fruity complexity layered with the vanilla and oak notes from ex-bourbon barrels. Aromas reveal Bakewell pudding, milk chocolate, and cinder toffee, progressing to palate impressions of strawberries and cream, marzipan, and vanilla fudge. The finish offers a medley of cherry pie, bonfire toffee, and eucalyptus, delivering a warming and rounded conclusion.
